Best filtering would be a dry paper (like the factory filter), best horsepower would be the K&N (oiled filter).

Most of us are running K&N, I just put mine on today.

OK, you SS Pros tell me if you know that by using the K&N air filter is good for the MAF? I talked to a mechanic today that says the oil used on these filters contaminates the MAF sensor and can end up harming the sensor with prolonged use. I know the sensor is not cheap to replace.

If its over oiled, yes it can foul up the MAF. Just make sure the K&N you get isn't oozing with oil (its happened before) and make sure when you clean it and re-oil it to take an easy.

You can also clean a MAF sensor.

By the way K&N sends a little card with your filter that says if a dealer tries to void your warranty due to there filter to call them at the number on the card.

I used a K&N Filter for almost 10 years on my 1998 Z28 and never had a problem or an issue with "OIL". Word to all people that do anything "Do it right and know what your doing before messing with anything"!!!!

I hate when people complain about the K&N filter because they hear blah blah blah from some mechanic thats probably never touched a 1990 and newer vehicle..

I've had a number of K&N filters on every car I've ever owned and never messed with them. Drop in, cones, you name it...fresh out of the box they work great. Will be getting mine when the new paper one needs to be changed.

I use a K&N filter and the factory Air-Box..... As far as oling... The Service Dept where I take the SS has no-problem with cleaning and re-oiling my filter, but just in case they do, I always have the OEM filter sitting on the passanger seat and its always sitting there when I pick the car up.

As far as HP gains... if any you won't feel it!
Now I will say there is a little bit of a sound diffarence, sounds like more air is moving, but it could just be the shape of the filter.
