Thanks peevlos. I installed mine and the cover wouldn't go on w/o hitting the filter and possibly crushing a part of it. I'll doublecheck my part number, but it did fit in there like a glove w/o the cover on though. Hmmm...

I recently installed 1/4 spacers between the cover and the box on the front 3 bolts just for ****es and giggles.

but I've been running the K&N since I bought it. If I am right its #E-1989

That part number sounds about right. I'll doublecheck my K&N box once I'm home tonight.

Is this normal to lose boost after the GM upgrade is installed? Maybe ChevyMgr will know if a reflash will repair this issue.

Alot of it depends on temperature and all that. Mine is having issues related to something else lately and my dealer thinks the torque converter may be bad....or my cat converter is clogged. Right now its a pig off the line. Nowhere near it was a year ago. But even before that as I said,it starting boosting not as high. Its still fast.......just does not have that feel of when the tune was first done.

Mine would boost to about 24/25 after the tune was installed, now it is usually less than 20. No CEL and runs fine but does not have the feel it did right after the tune was installed. I wonder if disconnecting the battery for a while will reset the ECM. I haven't found any answers as to what the problem is or if the ECM needs to be reflashed for some reason.

Mine just feels like I'm back to driving stock. Still quick, just not as fast as it was right after the upgrade.

the only thing that has changed is the addition of the d/p and exhaust

It will hopefully be resolved tomorrow morning, as (gcsd3742) stated it is a relearn thing.

Again, I thought that if the Stage was installed first the computer would no longer learn down after additional mods.

On-going saga

After a long-running saga of boost failure documented in another thread on this forum, my SS Panel with Stage 1 upgrade is running fine save for the fact that getting it to peg higher than 20 is impossible. The final solution involved my Chevy tech essentially re-doing the work performed by the first GMPP certified dealer. It's working better than stock, but not as good as before the lower MAP sensor wires shorted out from rubbing against the AC compressor. Guess another flash is in order. Then there's the matter of the vehicle needing to have the auxiliary brake pump installed. More warranty work for my guy I guess.
Thanks.

back from my 4 hour sit-a-thon at the dealer.

the 1st tech knew nothing about the Turbo Upgrade let alone GM makes it. Said its the first SS he has driven, that my car was "plenty peppy" and pushing 20psi which is the most it should push!

he then showed me a bulletin stating such... I showed him, said bulletin was for stock. then he told me by adding the 3" exhaust I lost back pressure causing loss of boost (he couldn't explain how though) could be cause he is full o'poop

in comes tech #2

show them on GMpartshouse.com that the Upgrade will allow boost above 22psi and up to 29psi they said "oh........yea" and kept reading.

ended up telling/showing me the wastegate solenoid is failing, so one is on order.

As the pamphlet says:
"No One Know Your GM Vehicle Better Than Mr. Goodwrench"

Asanti I do have the K&N E-1989 no clearance issues
