Is anyone in here running the Dejon short ram intake?

I am curious if anyone is running this intake. I know the general idea is that it sucks in hot air, but I have been reading over on the cobalt forums. It seems they are getting power gains out of short rams as long as they get tuned for them.

Anyone using this intake? Do you like it? Are your ait's high?

Anything works on a Cobalt SS, even a hot air ricer intake, because the stock Cobalt intake is so atrociously bad. The HHR intake is far superior.

Hot air is still hot air. The KN intake only showed very modest gains even though it retains cold air. Most feel the cost / benefit ratio is not very good. A downpipe is the only relatively cheap bolt-on that I would consider for the SS, and the stocker ain't all that bad.

Have you used a short ram intake such as the dejon one on your car or seen results on someone elses car? Not trying to bust on you, I am just curious where your opinion is coming from. I would like to hear from someone that is using or has used an intake like this.

The info I have on the Cobalt stock intake is from someone who has been working with GM engineers for many years and provided one of the test vehicles for the Cobalt SS turbo upgrade project. The upgrade only added about 15 HP on the Cobalt because of the crappy intake. It's so bad that even a lousy hot air ricer ram would see an improvement. That's all I'm saying.

The HHR already has a very good flowing intake that draws cold air. It's vastly superior to the Cobalt setup. As far as how well or poorly a hot air intake might work on an August day with a heat soaked engine compartment, all I can say is you don't have to try on a pair of shoes filled with gravel to safely conclude that they will make your feet hurt. OverBoost,

we have been debating the intake idea for 3 years. don't know about the Dejon, but for the most part a shorty without cold access really doesn't work, and will throw codes. Talk to Batman, I think he has a shorty type thing and a working scoop, to keep IAT lower. The set-up on the SS is pretty good, thats why the K&N kit is just a cover, adapter pipe and filter.....+ there ain't much clean air commin in on its own. just try changing out the filter for starters, then get a larger flex-tube into the fender--- the air is somewhat sucked into the well at the door jamb.(open pass door next time you start your car, you'll hear what I'm talking about).
A lot of the guys have done their own thing too... XXL traded cool air for fog lights. GCSD, mightymouse, batman and several others have custom plumbing as well. talk to some of those guys or do a couple of CAI searches

Thanks for the input guys. Does this mean there is no one out there that tried the Dejon intake? That was my original question.

That I know of one person's running the Dejon short ram on his SS. AFAIK he's not a very "active" member on here and never posted up if there were any benefits after the install. I know, I know, that info doesn't help you much but the general consensus seems to be what several have said already: our stock box is pretty efficient from the factory. Is it the best in the world? Probably not, but it gets the job done. Get a K&N or AEM filter and that should give you and extra 1-2 hp at most. Don't expect 15-20 hp gains even if you went with a custom, true cold-air intake. If you haven't already, do a search for "short ram intake" or Dejon short ram" to see if that guys' posts + pics come up.

Later

Thanks Asanti, that is closer to what I was looking for. Yes I should have searched in the first place. I found a few posts, but the pics were gone. Hmm, not sure I want to take the plunge. I did notice you dealing trying to buy a Secret Service intake off of someone. Did you ever get it? Doesn't look like it is in your sig now.
