Big Boost, UH OH

Occasionally because of full-bolt-ons and dual tunes, I still throw a P2096 from time to time. WHen I did the second tune I on-purpose left any code throwing enabled to see what was going on. No biggie.

Here is the biggie.... Driving down the interstate around 70mph I threw a code. I commented to my wife. She took the laptop(under the passenger seat) and opened up the data-log. Without thinking, she instinctlvy cleared the code. Nothing out of the ordinary happened, except now in third and fourth I am seeing boost in the 27-29LBS!!!!!!!! No issues but one hell of a kick at 90MPH.

This is the boost I'm seeing

1st 21
2nd 21
3rd usually 24-25/ now 27-28lbs
4th same

Any clues, or did I throw some tables off by clearing codes at 70mph?

I'm gonna look at diaphragm today. I am purposfully tuned to 25lbs, this overage is causing some concern. I will update later today after I have had a chance to drive it again.

Check for a boost leak or leaks.

Hey Rob,

Did this, and I really tried abusing it today, it was running fine and no longer boosting past 25. Wow. the only thing I can figure is it tricked or tripped the ECM for that key cycle.... I wasn't expecting my wife to re-set, and still had my foot in it a little when she did, it could have set some funky levels. Weirdest damn thing... I took it well over a hundred a couple of times today and couldn't get it to do it again. All is as it should be, I guess.

I really don't think a loss of boost was there. I know what its like to blow pressure. I did it at 120mph after installing IC pipes. Took a nose dive. No, it was holding boost and gittin' it. felt more like a calibration and timing issue, but we couldn't find anything other than an 02 trim level fuel reset that had occured. I thought at first the guage was just acting weird, but the 4lbs more umph in the butt dyno was there. I don't usually guage watch, but it took me by suprise. I'm a little pissed, it was a whole new animal for about an hour yesterday, pedal response was amazing. Dam weird. It really felt alive, and mine's already quick. If it was in the timing, I'm stoked. A bigger cam with our current intake is out of the question right now. the fuel is there, air not so much, and nobody has guinnea pig'ed an intake for the HHR yet. most of the ones available for the Cobalt will bolt up, its more of a clearance issue.
