Bought new K04, it has metal BPV?

So I bought this brand new LNF turbo off a guy up in Michigan and upon receiving it the first thing I notice is the BPV is metal not plastic. It uses the same bolt pattern on the BPV as the plastic factory one.
So here's my question, is the turbo that I have in my possession using a revised BPV to the plastic one or is the platic BPV a revision to the metal BPV? Anyone know?

Other then the BPV difference the turbo is exactly like a stock LNF K04 turbo.

The metal is the better one, have heard issues with the plastic one cracking.

Lets see how cute it is when it becomes a hybrid bolt on, I only paid $180/shipped for the K04 and its brand new.

Heard back from BNR racing yesterday about this upgrade: K04/GT series hybrid bolt on turbocharger

1 - gt2860 with stock compressor housing
2 - gt2860 w/ larger compressor housing (10% more flow) + upgraded wastegate actuator
3 - gt2871 w/ larger compressor housing (10% more flow) + upgraded wastegate actuator

Email from Brian at BNR racing:

"Right now I am working on jigs, and CAD drawings to make this conversion happen. I am doing all the machine work with CNC machines, so every tolerance will be a perfect fit. This set up is what takes the most time so hang in there!

I don't know if you are on my call/email list for LNF upgrades. I need your name, email addy and telephone number. When I get the machined turbine housing in my hand I will contact everyone on the list for the update! From there it is down hill!"

Needless to say I sent him my info so he could get in contact with me now that I have a extra turbo to play with.

Yes, but I doubt this turbo I got will work. What you see in my pictures above is the new LNF turbo for the Buick Regal LNF Turbo made by Mitsubishi.

It is made by Mitsubishi, not Borg Warner and uses LNF flanging. It has a Mitsubishi symbol on the flange with number and a laser etch tag thats reads TD04L6-04H-19TK3s-8.5T
Basically a TD04L with a 6 blade turbine wheel with a 19T compressor wheel. Bad news is I don't know if this will work with the BNR upgrade, good news is there are 3 available turbine wheels that are upgrades to the mitsubishi TD04 turbine and are relatively cheap, TD04H, TD04HL, TE04. A common upgrade is a TD04HL-19T (good for 350-375whp) or the TE04H-19T (less common upgrade as the wheel is hard to find, but it is the biggest turbine, no real numbers on this upgrade, its known as a TE04H-19T superflow). Cost of upgrading TD04L turbine wheel is $500-750 this would make the new Mitsubishi LNF turbo the cheapest upgrade available.

Not only is the BPV metal, it is built entirely different.

Also the BPV flange is machined totally different.
