Has anyone even proved an aftermarket intake shows significant gains over stock set up?

I'm using a K04-GT2871 and haven't out flowed the stock CAI set up yet.

The only reason I would ever get rid of the stock set up is for actual gains, the BOX on top of the engine doesn't bother me like some people.

Works a lot better, when you space the front of the lid up, and trim off the plastic deflector on top of the radiator. "Moon"

I had A CAI already lined up with Treadstone performance Engineering out of Miami, FL. to be made about 1-2 weeks ago after talking with Jason via pm's on Cobaltss.net.

All we had to do was have someone in the area drop off there HHR SS for 1 week and Jason @ Treadstone told me he would make a CAI for us. He was ready to start on it asap also.

Not enough interest when I posted about it here, people were saying the stock air box was fine, etc., etc., so I let the project die.
No sense in having a company do R&D and developing something for a few people.
Probably why Secret Services stopped making there intakes for us, not enough people interested.

Damn shame to, the one Treadstone made for the Cobalt SS/TC had a soldered in Air straightener, was a very nice piece with proper MAF location, etc. Top of the line stuff.

For all you people who think our stock intake is just fine, I was flowing 5 lbs/min less air flow then someone else with a Cobalt SS/TC with the same exact mods and set up as me, except he had a CAI and I was on the stock airbox with K&N.

Our stock airbox is good alright, for a stock airbox. Better then most, but that doesn't make it better then a well designed CAI.

i think people are very interested south. it's just we as owners have been told so and so can and will make one,but they don't come through. eric has one that works for him. the only reason i didn't go with secret is because they still had some bugs to work out,but looks like thats done. i think once someone puts out an intake we can touch and see, people will buy.

I would disagree , Do i have numbers to prove it , No.

But i can sure tell the differance with the lid on (vented or not) than with the lid off drawing forced air from the scoop.

I don't think youre batty, I believe you, but you mean all you did was make the hood scoop setup without tuning?
