Hahn 3inch dp and exhaust installed!!!
Hahn 3inch dp and exhaust installed!!!
well just got back from my muffler guy and now have the hahn stainless steel 3inch exhaust with 3inch dp-no cats installed. guess what??? i took pics this time lol. will get them up by the wekend or as soon as eric(gcsd)is feeling better. now,on to the exhaust. for the DIY,guys this exhaust bolts up PERFECT!!! the only thing that would shy me away from doing this myself would be you have to cut your stock exhaust. doing all of that on your back would be a PITA!!! you have to cut it at the sub frame where the piping goes up and over. the hole is to small to bring the triangle flange through and obviously to small for the muffler. either have strong arms and back,a lift,or power saw to this at home. the only problem we ran across for 5 seconds was i didn't get any bolts to mate the DP to the sleeve flange. maybe they forgot while packing???
the sound is PERFECT!!! the best way to put it would be,if gm had an aftermarket exhaust, this would be it!!! it's not loud with an"srt" sound. few burbles here, but not all that popping and gurgling. for some that might be fine, but not for me. not alot of inside noise while highway driving. if you drove or rode in a mkiv supra, this exhaust note is close to that. yes,it's that smooth!!! not as deep, but smooth. at idle,it's almost stockish, but noticiable. for the person who don't know about our cars, they couldn't tell if we were piped or not. performance,it does what it's suppose to. quicker spool up and more responsive from when you tap the accelerator. boost spikes to 25 in third and settles at 22.have not gone out and "tested" it good yet. johnny law man is after the spring breakers going to the island lol.
once again,great product bill
. looking to more business with you REAL soon

also will see if we can get some sound clips up also.

Thanks for the write-up, I have been wondering how well the Hahn exhaust would preform/sound.
Is the ONLY way to remove the stock exhaust to cut it off?? I was hoping to save it, just in case....
Let's see the pics when you and Eric get a chance.

If you have or want to put the stock exhaust back on again you can use a Butt joint clamps at the cut joint. Look at summit/jegs for them.

I'am glad you got your system on and are now enjoying it. I've had mine since Dec. and love it. The sound and performance gains are well worth it. If I remember right Bill said that when he replaced the cats with the 3" down pipe it gained 20 whp on the dyno, and weighs a lot less than stock. I'am sold on the setup it works and sounds great.

OK, a couple more questions...
If you put in the cat less down pipe with the complete exhaust, and you later decide to add the cat back in, is it a direct bolt up between the turbo and the cat back portion?
Are there any sensors (and what are they) in the current exhaust that have to be moved?
Are there any codes being thrown with this system?

no codes are thrown with this system. it still uses the factory o2 sensor. hahn did an excellent job in this area with the DP.
we have only one sensor. as long it's in a bung,no worries. so yes you can mount your stock dp with the cats back on and link it to the rest of the system.

Has anyone done any sound clips?
I would be curious to see how much of a difference in sound there would be with and without the cats?
