To be honest we all call this a stage 2 kit when it is really not even called a stage kit from GM.

If I recall they call it a GM Turbo upgrade kit and nothing more.

We here are the ones that incorrectly call it a stage kit and this leads to the expectations of it being a stage 1-2-3.

The SC kit did come in stages but that does not apply here.

The gentleman from GMPD stated as such here a while back.

I really don't know where "Stage 1" came from in this context of the HHR SS, but it seems to be a de-facto term that is well worn in. GM Tech Link calls it an "LNF Turbo Upgrade". Crate Engine (where I sourced mine from) calls it a "Stage Kit". I don't know where the numerical value of "1" came from. Go figure.

Anyway, so as not to hijack this thread, I have been getting anywhere from 19-21psi, but sometimes 22 over the summer. I was reaching almost 24 a couple of months ago when the weather was cooler.

I seem stuck at 19 like there's a limiter or something.

OK, its been North Carolina summer hot and humid, so I said...whatever with the 19, but now. I drove around with it cool...65 at night and low humidity and it still maxes at 19 in second gear. I hit around 18 in third. Its definitely better than prior to getting the stage 1, and I know people say "don't get caught up in the numbers"...but I am seeing the same numbers no matter the weather or situation. I have never, ever seen more than 19.

I do not have any mods beyond the stage 1. I do not know how much that factors. No exhaust, intake, intercooler or whatever.

I always run super, I have never run any additives or racing fuel.

Since the learn down mode has been removed with the gmpp upgrade would it be possible to adjust the waste gate rod out 1-2 threads and the ecu actually read the boost and allow the power without ill effects?

Now that didn't answer my question at all.

Sorry, I was seeing 15 psi max before my install today, now I'm seeing 18-20 psi. I've read some where that it takes 6 key cycles for the ecu to learn the new tune, which of course you are past. I'll let you know in a few days if my boost has changed. Our weather and humidity stays the same normally for extended periods of time.

I like to think outside the box a little, is it possible that people are seeing different boost psi because the rods are not all calibrated exactly the same from the factory? Is the quality control strict enough to assure that every waste gate rod is adjusted exactly the same?

I did read this in another thread as a potential screw up in installation:

It is recommended to make sure your AC compressor and AC lines are relocated away from the lower map sensor. Under hard acceleration the engine can torque over and make contact and you then lose pressure.
