Custom tune is the way to go with H/P Tuners.....You can change so many more parameters with it vs. a hand-held Y/N on/off button tuner....Cheaper as well

But....can you duplicate the h/p and torque created by the out of the box tune, or do you just match it? Seems to me the out of the box tune has been tested to the extreme and get the most performance while retaining reliability, but with tuning yourself you might be able to make better numbers, but what are you sacraficing? Although I can see with tuning yourself, you might be able to match your individual mods to your tune. With tuning yourself you also incur the cost of renting a dyno to get everything just right.

Duplicate? How about exceed dramatically.

HP Tuners with a stage tune file from ADM is awesome. In fact, it produces so much torque I need a clutch upgrade to get all the power down to the wheels. BTW - this tune even exceeds the new GM tune based on the numbers in the other thread.

So no dyno even needed.

But if you get the Stage 1 upgrade and another H/P Tuners upgrade on top of that...Well now thats a whole different story....Dont worry guys mine is in transit as Turbotech said earlier. And we will Dyno both the standard and automatic after the install and before my H/P Tuners upgrade. Then I'll report in on my Dyno run after the H/P Tuners install....I might even have the Electric cut-out installed by then as well...OK OK OK not might I will have it installed....

There's no doubt that each option has its own particular benefits, but it's important to keep in mind that not every enthusiast is perfectly served by both options.

Taken another way, some will prefer the ease of the PPC, for no other handheld tuner yet exists that can equal its capabilities and/or ease of operation, as well as an ability to return to stock anywhere, anytime, in under a minute.

Some others will prefer to have more control over more parameters, and won't mind that a laptop, cabling/software, dyno, and skilled operators are required to get the most out of an HPTuners application.

Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder

I'd respectfully ask that threads involving our products not morph into debates between PPC and HPTuners. Take it outside, fellas!
Should anyone wish to start a thread to discuss the relative merits of each, I'd be happy to participate.

Here's a new thread I've started:
