Hey guys, does anyone have a copy of the GM Stage 1 tune for an '09 HHR Auto w/o brake assist for HP Tuners they could send me? Or possibly even an '08? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Not really sure what you're asking. The so called "Stage 1" is really called the GM Turbo Upgrade kit:as in,for the 2.0 turbo LNF engine(used in the HHR SS) .This kit is not a software program that I assume you are looking for a copy of. Either you are misinformed or I read your post wrong. If I'm wrong, then sorry.

Did you check the HP Tuners Repository?

Yeah, I need the turbo upgrade tune. I have checked the HP Tuners repository...there wasn't even a base HHR tune of any sort for '09 until I submitted mine. The only '08 SS LNF upgrade is for a manual and I have the auto. Nobody seems to have this darn tune file lol. But the 3-bar map sensors I ordered are useless without it.

The GMPP tune gets flashed to your vin so if you get it from someone else it wont work. GM gets it from GM according to the vin

You can use someone else's tune if you match year and options...but it changes the vin in the comput er.

The calibration is not VIN specific. That just tells them which one (Man, Auto, Solstice, etc.) to download from GM. A tune ripped from HPT will work fine, but you'll trigger a nanny in the ECM that will tell the dealer that a tune was flashed in. This could affect your powertrain warranty should they happen to be looking for that. It would conceivably affect the longer emissions warranty as well.

I'm still confused. Not a computer person either, but how are going to use somebody elses tune. The GM turbo upgrade is flashed at the dealer. They don't give you an extra copy to carry around in your wallet.
I'm sure GregRex knows what he's talking about, but I wish someone would explain this a little better. I'm old school I guess. Dazed and confused.: clueless:

I havent gotten a tune yet, but I do know a little about it. With something like the HPTuners kit, you can download the computer code from the engine control module onto a laptop, view it, alter it, and write it back onto the engine control module. Most common changes are timing tables, throttle response delay and air/fuel ratio. You can tune according to the bolt-on modifications you have done to increase the fuel to go with the increased airflow.
