Talking New Turbo

Has anyone thrown a bigger/new turbo on their ss i cant seem to find 1 that is not for a ss cobalt. Will those work on the hhrs also cause i know they have the exact same motor in them? If so does anyonehave a good website to get 1 off of or store?

Get in contact with Rick (bald turbo freak)
And crazysteve who is on this forum i believe is already doing a big turbo and i know for a fact XXL is running a bigger turbo

A popular choice for our cars is the GT3076R or GT3071R

Im no expert, but if people are running above 20psi boost on the stock turbo, wouldnt getting a bigger one require other engine work? And dont bigger turbos take longer to spool up?

from my understanding the stock internals will handle 400hp pretty easily, ( many guys out there making alot more) yes the cobalt kits will fit our cars same thing......true a bigger turbo will take a little longer to spool but our stock supper low peak of around 2500-3K is a little too low for a FWD and just causes tire and clutch smoke, moving the power band out a little 3500-4K on say a gt3071 will yield tons more power and even more usable power.

Dejon powerhouse has a few turbos that can be put on an hhr ss. and in most cases it appears that a turbo for the cobalt ss will also work just fine on the hhr ss, due to having the same engine but do not quote me. here is the link to dejons site http://hhr.dejonpowerhouse.com/

same engine yes...same engine bay,no. the same reason we can't run the hahn cai. if you compare the two motors, they sit different in the car. might be some fitment issues in that case.

xxl just have an upgraded wheel from what i understand,i could be wrong.

So for everyone who does have an aftermarket turbo kit, do you think you can shed some of your first hand experiance on this?
How long did it take you to install? where did YOU get yours? how much did you end up paying? etc.

Look up the thread from GDZHHR, he had hahn work on a turbo kit. Hahn said more boost would require reworking the valve train to increase valve spring pressure. The bottom end might take 400, but from what Ive read the top wont. And the tranny would be next.
