It's extra insurance that the connection will stay put and not blow off under boost.
I went ahead and ordered both of the Silicone Couplers for the Upper IC Pipe...I believe it also comes with 2 T-Bolt Clamps as well

For you guys that ordered the ZZP downpipes... Before you go bolting it up, check the O2 bung for extra material just before the threads. Install the sensor before you install the downpipe. Mine had a problem with a little excess material left around the inside of the bung. The O2 sensor would only go in about 25% of the way. ZZP said they only had a couple of Cobalt owners report this. Instead of taking it out, I spent 20 minutes grinding out the excess materal with the downpipe installed. Just a heads up for you guys.

Pretty tight is right. I just changed the angle on the left side of radiator, cm's to spare, 1 or 2 of them anyway.

Just got back from getting the downpipe installed.

It really made the car sound alot different...much deeper...and it kind of "hisses"....sounds awesome

BUT....I haven't been able to tell how good it runs with the DP because the car is running (boost) is so jumpy....it just won't stay boosted on a certain PSI. Hopefully, when hell freezes over and I get it figured out...I'll be able to see how the new DP feels

i know that there are plenty out there that never have had an issue with gms1 but i am soooooooooo glad that i never went that route. every week there is someone here or on css that starts a thread like this one. hopefully the plug and play adapters that are out now will help eliminate so many of these issues
