Question Pinging Issue

Well I notice that I get pinging now after the IC and IC piping install. It's holds boost at about 24 PSI but it pings in 2nd gear and im not sure why. We only have 91 Oct out here so I figure I might need to add oct booster or find some 100 oct somewhere to add a gal.

I still have to get the K&N and DP put on.

Anyone had a pinging issue after mods?

I'd try to find some higher octane or the booster to see if it helps. My only guess is it's flowing too much air for the mass to read and causing it to run lean? Either way I'd take it easy till you figure it out. If the detonation that loud you can hear it you might pop a gasket or worse.
Edit: Also so far with the mods I've done no issues. So far just the program and catted DP.

OK this is a stupid question because I don't know about MAP sensors that well. Can you install one backwards? When I put the lower DEJON Piping on, I had to 180 my lower MAF sensor.

AMSOIL sells an Octane Boost that will increase it by approx. 7 Points
Stock # AOBBE

Usually 7 points means 0.7 octane (i.e 91 becomes 91.7) Just be aware of that.

Back to the original question on pinging, if you can actually hear it, that is certainly bad. The knock-retard usualy takes care of that, and with the Hahn/PPC tune, I get up to 3 deg of retard often at 91 octane and occasionally at 93 octane, but never any audible ping. Sounds like your boost might be a bit high for engine longevity. Caution is in order until you get it figured out.

I know a placed that sells 100 OCT and will put a gal or 2 into it and see if that helps. But yes, ever since the IC and Piping install, I get and maintain higher boost than before so i'll see if it stops it. if not I'll remove the mods

I don't think it matters on the MAP sensors.

First, check thoroughly that you have no air leaks after the MAF sensor. Unmetered air is a disaster on a F/I engine. Add toluene to the fuel rather than paying by the ounce for overpriced octane booster that doesn't work. Don't get it on the paint. Some Lucas fuel treatment or Uplon will add lubricity to the toluene.

I have a feeling that when I put the couplings on that some might be not on correctly all the way or tight because of the way the IC fits and the lower piping is sitting. I do have a slight stumble at WOT in second and 3rd. It's not pinging in 1st gear. Second and 3rd gear.

My car makes some noticeable ticking noises sometimes at full throttle in 2nd and 3rd gears, and I even run 94 octane most of the time. I have a Superchips tune but the ticking noise while accelerating was there before and after the tune. I thought it was pinging at first, but I'm not so sure now. Between the intake, exhaust, injectors, clutch, transmission, differential, axles, tires, wind noise and rattles, this is not a quiet car but it's been very quick and reliable for over 20,000 miles so I can't complain too much
