POLL: GM stage upgrade on HHR SS went smooth or had issues
With the auto about the time it really starts to pull in 3rd it is bumping into 90MPH. I want a little more at the lower end.
Add to that the increase over the 250 to 290 HP in 3rd and 4th and the 315 LBS it should feel good.
I am watching the live dealer video feed for the service department. It is still in the bay.
I also asked them to get the fuel pump cover to quiet the ticking. It was a simple install and will make a already noisey engine a little better.
Install appeared to go smoothly... Install looked very good. VERY pleased with the performance for 1-Day... Took it out Saturday morning, NO BOOST. Turned off and restarted and all seemed OK... Then got a check-engine light and no boost again... Restart and erratic boost.
Near the bottom sensor is a little barbed fitting that a small hose attaches to. This hose then routes up to some other sensor. This is broken off. It must have been still attached but cracked before. This must be some reference pressure sensor or something... With this off, boost is erratic or not at all.
Took it back to the dealer. Showed the tech-writer the hose. Picked the car up with the same problem. All they did was reset the Engine light. Tech never fixed it. When I showed the actual tech the problem he said he was never told about the hose. New part is supposed to be in tomorrow... Stay tuned........
IMO, the little barb fitting looks very fragile. It's very near the sensor that gets replaced. When the tech re-wires the the new connector for the new sensor, they have to push things around to get some space to work...
Hopefully tomorrow I can post some positive news...

Well my review will have to wait.
I called about my car and was told they started late due to not being able to get linked to GM? I was told it would be ready at 4 PM.
Then I went to pick it up and then they said it was more involved because they had to remove the brake vacuum pump.
They had a loaner car ready and I asked about if I was taking a hit on the install price of 1.2 hours and he said no.
So While it will take me two days to get my SS back I was given a car and will keep the same price.
I did tell the guy doing the work to retorque the intake tubes and make sure they are tight. He said they have had the same issue on the Turbo Diesel trucks.
Also the cover for the fuel pump is not coming in till Tuesday so I would have had to come back for that anyway.
As for now I have a brand new Aveo that makes the last Cobalt I had look like a CTS.
I feel like they canceled Christmas LOL!

No damnager there.
Between the Brake fix and this I have had a Cobalt, HHR and Aveo. They would have gotten me an HHR if they had known ahead I needed a car.
My gut feeling is they may have cracked a tube or damaged a sensor are just buying time? I was there and looked at the work and I could have had it back together unless I was missing somthing other then bolting in the lower map and the vacuum pump back on .
Bottom line is a got a free car and they are not jacking a very resonable price to put it on so I can wait. Once this is done I will have less than $620 in this whole project installed.
There is no danger of me going to a Aveo club.

Mine did not go smoothly, I had to have it installed twice by two different dealers cause the first one could not figure it out, then it would constantly misfire, turned out to be two bad coil packs, then from the install, the charge piping would continue to come loose so I had to have that re-installed. Have had the HHR back for about a month after two weeks of hell and it finally seems to be running OK. Has anyone else seen that on the automatics with the upgrade there seems to be a spot were the boost just sits at about 5-7psi and then WOOOOOOSHHHHH takes off? is this back pressure from the stock exhaust? do I have ANOTHER PROBLEM
? any help or comments are appreciated
