Question
General rule has been with the GTP guys around 320 HP After that it may last and it many not last just depending on use. The reliability factor declines at this point.
The guys with slicks at the strip over this usally break the diff. I have seen them blow right on the line.
The Guys wanting to make more power were going to the Caddy transaxle as it will handle well over 400 HP. Just they would have to cut the floor etc to make it work. Most were FWD race cars only anyway.
GM covers the tranny to near 300 HP with the turbo upgrade kit and 305 HP with the GXP GP so you can figure they left a little room even with the torque managment programs. It is amazing how the computer make this tranny last.

the gp trans and hhr trans are completely different. the gp trans used to be the 4t65e and 4t65e-hd for the gtp. the hhr auto is a 4t45e iirc. codes seem to mean 4spd transaxle xx electronicly controlled...
