Stage 1 Then What???

Just picked up a 08 SS Auto Black 6K...Love it so far...Looking to make as much HP without detonating it! What are the best mods to add after the Stage 1 for more ponies...Looks like a tune on top will help...Which one are you guys running? After that I dont know what to do next...Thanks...Al

The engine will take a lot but the tranny will fail long before the engine.

For street use it will take its toll over time. While it may not be a catastrophicly failure it will live a shorter normal life.

If you drive easier it will live longer but if you have the power you're going to use it.

One needs to remember these trannys were designed back when power was never expected to go over 300 HP in many of the cars it is in. Today we have the new 6 Sp Auto that will take the abuse but it will not fit the old Delta platform. We will see it soon in Delta II.

For the most if it were not for the computer shift contols the trannys would not live as long as they do now stock.

Right know I have 315hp to the flywheel and 276whp and 286 fpt, before I will go for more hp I'm going to have to change the clutch with a specclutch 3+ which will allow up to 550 torque capacity, but just keep in mind that until we figure out how to control wheel spin it's only good at in 3rd and above. Of course thats with a 5sp.

OOprowler mentioned that his SS was auto. I believe that there is a general concern about keeping it together at power levels above 300hp

Here's a thread I started before I got my SS.
https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/ss-specific-service-issues-repairs-61/auto-tranny-strong-enough-stage-1-a-23952/
It answered my auto tranny strength questions and I feel comfortable enough to do the stage kit and IC pipes.
It scoots around town good enough for me as is.

The only time I wanted more oomph was when I was passing a control freak that sped up while I was passing.
It was quick enough and the passing lane was long enough before the re-merge that time but I like plenty of {overhead, overkill, What's the word I'm looking for here?}.

f**k them.
Call dealers until you find one that has done the stage a few times.
Then make an appointment to get it installed on yours.

Nobody is going to learn how on my HHR.
Don't know what part of Ct. you're in but Hurd Automall in Johnston, RI said they've done it a few times.
I might be getting mine done there when I can afford it.

I second Mowgli. I had to research more than a few dealerships in my area before I found one that I felt knew what they were doing for this particular install. If a dealer says the ST1 is only for the manual trans, it's time to try another dealer.

When you do, ask them how many they did to date. Also give them this information. My dealer actually thanked me for it, as they seemed to be enthusiastic about these types of installations.
