Stock Boost around 10psi
Stock Boost around 10psi
So after owning a 2010 auto SS for about a week, I'm noticing the boost is maxing around 10psi. Once in 3rd or 4th with the pedal to the floor I see it can get up to 13psi. I'm reading on the site seeing everyone saying 15psi is normal for stock - do I have something to worry about?
Live right outside Philadelphia, on real hot days (mid 90s) I'm seeing 9psi, but on cool mornings (low 70s) it's usually around 10psi.

The automatics in stock form are programmed as "depowered" so to speak, in the lower gears. Just the way the engineers set them up.
I seem to recall something about 235 hp.
Since your's is a 2010 with the RPD, you could check it with the HP/Torque gauge. Just do a few runs and see what kind of power numbers you are getting.
Just remember, it's not the boost numbers but how much power it's making.
A tune or the GMTU will really wake up a stock SS w/automatic transmission.

Thanks firemangeorge and SSfan - the GMTU and trifecta tune are on the list of mods to do, but I'd like to upgrade to the front brakes to brembos first.
On the highway this morning in 1st and 2nd it was reading around 209 for torque, when I hit 3rd it jumped to 225

and modify the stock file.
It has been determined by a number of people on the tuning end that working with the stock file and adding the calibration for the sensors has worked out better than using the GMTU tune. On my 2008 SS I removed my original tune to have the GMTU kit installed as was very disappointed in the performance of that tune, but, I wanted/needed the 3bar sensors so at the time (2008/2009) that was the only way to get them and still have a warranty. I've since altered my stock file to add the performance enhancements I like and I can say I am much happier. Since mine kit was one of the first releases it didn't have the adapters. I had to go back a remove the crimp on connectors and solder and heat shrink the connections. Mine never threw a code but I would have reduced boost conditions, soldering the connections fixed the issue.
