What Does the Stage 1 Kit Consist Of?

I'm in Lynchburg, Va and the Chevy Dealer doesn't have a clue. I had to show them the Stage 1 kit in a GM Performance catalog before they would believe it existed. They finally looked it up and figured $1000+ to install. The kit is two Map sensors and some connectors. (Stock Maps are $100 a piece at GM pricing). This upgrade must include reflashing the ECU, again they didn't have a clue.

Just curious: Does the Stage 1 plus an after market tuner get you more performance than just the after market tuner?

They are ripping you off. I paid $550 for the kit and $240 for the install and that was a lot. Today I see them advertised at the local dealers for $615 installed. All the kit consists of is 2 sensors, 2 wiring harness adapters for the new sensors, some butt splices, some stickers, and a reflash of the ECU.

I got my kit from Crate Engine Depot, an online dealer, and my dealer installed it for $125. This may vary now since it's been out a while and shops realize what it takes to do it properly. Have them ditch the butt splices and solder the wires together and cap them. This will save you aggrevation down the road, unlike my experience.

Those are shrinkable butt splices. When correctly used, they seal airtight, and are quite unlike the traditional, crappy butt splices. Those are the first crimp splices ever approved by GM.

Mine was also around $650 installed. Purchased from Crate Engine Depot and installed at my local dealer.

Bought mine for $476.78 shipped from www.gmpartsdirect.com and $200 for install. I feel you with finding a knowledgable dealer. Took me 3 weeks of searching on fourms until I found a tech on this site who ended up doing the install. I went through 3 of my local dealers and they had no clue what I was talking about.
