By the way, the price difference for me is no where close to $3000 more. The difference in a loaded 2LT and an SS with 6 disc, premium sound and sunroof is about $1400 for me.. I am using GMS prices.

I have a 2.2 and after driving a 2.2 non-ecotec cavalier that had about 110hp...the ecotec 2.2 in my 08 LS 5-speed is more than i need, but that also may come from it being a stick. The only thing i notice is that with the ac on it makes it like driving two different cars.

Premium is recommended for the 2.4, not required. The only reason I use it is for the improved performance and slight savings with the increased mileage. I had a Cadillac that was also "premium optional". I noticed no performance or mileage difference, just that it ran rough with regular, so we comprimised and ran mid-grade.

There is no compelling reason to run premium in an engine that isn't tuned to make use of it. So I would not bother if we would have had the 2.2.

just comparing the 2LT i got and the SS they had on the lot, using sticker price, although i got GMS on mine as well. Besides the 6 disc changer my 2lt is loaded.

my 2LT, sticker $23,200

They had 2 SS's at one point. one was $25,??? and the other was $26,???

But it doesn't matter if you compare Stickers or GMS since about the same amount comes off.

Being 24 and buying a Supercharged vehicle, the insurance companies often try to take advantage of you...

And still the Premium fuel...

I understand that..

The 2LT I am looking at has an MSRP of 24,520 and the SS I am looking at has a sticker of 25,605. Thats a difference of $1085.

I think the SS is worth that, but its a 5 speed and the 2LT is auto.

yeah that would get me since i don't drive stick and really don't have the ambition to.

there's an extra difference in 1000 right there since the SS is a stick. and both of them that i was comparing were autos...

I just purchased a Shadow Edition 1LT. (God I love the Granite Metallic Paint)! I drove both the 2.2 and 2.4 and really didn't notice much difference. Neither engine have much in the way of ooomph! The Shadow Edition is based on a 1LT which only has the 2.2L. While the horsepower rating is 149 vs 172, the 2.4 suggests Premium Fuel. If you run regular gas, I would assume the slight horsepower difference will be diminished when the computer detunes for the lower grade of gas. I'm fine with the base motor so far, and using Regular Fuel. With the Chrome Appearance Package and Gray Leather Seats, this edition is very close to a 2LT. I used to own a 37 Ford Slantback and the look out the front window and smaller door windows really brings back memories.

This is my first post to this forum. My car is 5 days old today. My other vehicles are: 07 Caddy STS AWD, 04 Silverado Z71 4X4 and an 04 Harley Electraglide. I think I have all the bases covered so maybe I can stop spending money on transportation for awhile. Ha!

I have the 2.4L and I much prefer it than the 2.2L. I've driven the 2.2L in an 05 cobalt which is not as much power compared to the 2.4LT (even wih reg gas) especially w/ the VVT (variable valve timing). With the VVT the mid-high RPM band you can feel the power kick in. Of course it's nothing like the 2.0 turbo.

Good news for 09, the 2.2 get's VVT which ups the power to 155 Horses.

I don't play with gas guzzlers...lol.
If I wanted to go fast I'd get a bike.
I'm getting about 40 on the highway if i drive more than 15 minutes on the highway. I can do anywhere from 28-32 in the city depending on my level of interest.
So my dic is reading over 35mpg on this tank.
I use 87.

I was hoping to do this to DRVE THE POINT HOME. You don't need anything more than 87.
