Airaid's for Auto's only???

Was thinking about a CAI, looking at the different ones, I noticed on Airaid's site, they say theirs is for automatics only... Is this true??? And if so, why?

Probably has something to do with the difference between transmissions and the way they take up space in the engine bay and/or mounting points.

I had a civic back in the day and had an intake for manuals only and tried to fit it on an auto and the tranny was right where the piping needed to be.

Also give airaid a call, they have great customer service.

Hmm, I seem to remember someone trying it on a manual, but it involved some trimming of the cowl material. I could be mistaken though, memory aint what it used to be.

air raid intake

Hey Bwhite - I have a 5 speed manual and I installed the air raid intake on my HHR - It is a little big but it still fits and I have noticed a bit more power as I have the 2.2 ecotec. Sounds good when you throttle her too!

Good to hear.... I'll be purchasing one around the 10k mile mark when it's time to replace the air filter.

Honestly, as long as I don't lose power, that's all I care about, but after going over the steps to change the air filter, I decided I wanted to put something a little more easily accessible. I live in the country, and the last mile to my house is on a dirt road. I religiously change/clean my air filters every 8-10k miles. To get to the HHR's filter is crazy, IMO, I drive 35-40k a year, and just don't want that aggravation....

i see no reason why it wouldnt fit the manual, actually the manual has more space under the bonnet. the auto is actually tilted 15 degrees foreward compared to the manual.
