How to build your own header and save $300 bucks
Here`s an update on my stock header/intake mod Sunday I went for a drive and did another 50 mph test run.Set cruise on at 50, reset mpg it came up right away with 39.7 mpg and continued to climb to 44.3 mpg at the end of a short 7 mile run.
Will have to try this on a longer run hard too say just how high it would have gone before it stopped climbing. For my fellow Canuck`s that`s 53.2 mpg and with reg. gas now at $6.27 this looks too be a real gas saver as well as more power when you stomp on it.
I will be looking into getting it on a dyno very soon and will post the #`s

Another note here on the 08's.. the pipe after the cat narrows down instead of maintaining the same diameter,,, I see a cat back pipe set coming..and ..the muffle exit is even smaller!!( they just stabbed a bigger tip on it! Appears to be the same stocker muffer on all models)

I am interested in the mileage and performance gains
I am interested in this thread as I am looking for better mileage on my HHR with out losing power. I did not buy the car for perfomance (it is an economy car!) but I do not want to lose anything.
This is my mileage with no mods, highway at 55-65mph no cruise, and city usually 5mph under to 10mph over posted max.
My mileage is great first I have yet to go on a long hiway run but I have done 2 30 mile runs 5 weeks apart same trip.I set the cruise at 60 mph waited 1 minute reset the mpg came up at 45 mpg right away road was flat with 2 over passes at end of 30 mile run 1st trip was 43.8 with 1 passenger 2nd run yesterday with just me was 44.3.Could get better still engine has less than 3,000 miles on it.
Before I reset the mpg it was at 38 mpg for the last tank with gas up here in Canada over $6.00 a gallon I am very happy with 53 miles to the imperial gallon.
