Any ideas to what the power increase would be?

You can get 5 hp from just replacing a lighter pulley???

 

what some one told me then another said about .8whp dont know just heard it revs alot faster, i have one will get it installed on the 1st i'll let you know if you can really notice a difference

 

Your not really "gaining" horsepower. Your more like "freeing up" lost horsepower. A lighter pulley means the engine doesn't have to work as hard to turn your belt. Lighter pulley will make a difference on how quick the engine revs and free up some parisitic loss from turning your accessories (alt and A/C pulleys). Not sure of 5 from a pulley but have heard a 5-8 Wheel gain from using a kit like AEM's that replace more than one pulley.

i gained 8 hp on my sentra from a lightened pulley, gained 10 hp from my lightweight flywheel. or i guess you could say got back 18 hp with the combo. it did rev alot quicker, i think it was something like 1 hp for each 2lbs removed from the crank. aftermarket pulley weighed 5 lbs, and the flywheel weighed in at 11 lbs FYI.

 

last thing i want to do is lighten flywheel...........after cam's, injectors', all bolt on's, tune, etc.........

 

I put a lighter flywheel in my Datsun 280Z and it made a big difference in how fast the car revved and came back down. It also made starting a lot trickier. But that, a bigger throttle body, recurved distributer, headers and exhaust, and lighter body parts (fiberglass hood, fenders, hatch, and headlight buckets) all contributed to a mid 15 second car. And it would have been much quicker with slicks. The car had tons of wheelspin, and my quickest runs were when I did NOT powershift 2nd gear (the car broke traction and began turning sideways). It even chirped 3rd gear (right before the finish line) so bigger gears were also needed (the car had a 5 speed).

I just find it hard to believe that enough weight could be saved from the relatively small pulley(s).

 

Smaller pulley would react the same as the flywheel mentioned. Same philosophy just not as much power is regained though.

 

How much do these lighter pullys cost? seems like you would get more power from an air intake and a higher flowing muffler. If the price is right I may have to try the lighter pulleys after I get an aftermarket higher flowing muffler. It should increase gas mileage too, since it will make the engine more efficient.
