Magnaflow noise vs. IMCO

.....I didn't see anything that addressed this specifically so I'll give it a shot. I had the IMCO on for almost 2 yrs, the "sweged" piece I had connecting the muffler to the pipe was rotting already (MA winters). Not wanting to go thru it again in 2 yrs, I found a good deal on a Magnaflow after reading "it wasn't too 'ricey' ".

All I can say is I hope this quiets down some. It's been 2 days, my wife (who drives it 95% of the time) came in this AM & said "that's loud!"

Anyone else do this system upgrade?

To the rest of the Magnaflow users, does it quiet down any?

Thanks for your re's in advance.

You could say that. I highly doubt there's much difference in sound between 2.2 & 2.4; I just wanted to cover the bases w/ both groups because as soon as it’s bumped off the top, one wouldn't necessarily see it looking for engine specific mods. I thought about putting a single post in "general" category, but this is performance related. If I erred, please moderator let me know. I'll blow them both out & put a single in "general" category!

Got a sound clip? I almost bought the Flowmaster but went with a MagnaFlow instead. I like 'loud' haha but wonder how much louder it is compared to my MF?

Where in this post does it say anything about using a Flowmaster muffler ?

Can depend on how close the Tip exits out the rear bumper area! It will probably not quiet down much so will become an aquired taste over time!

My Magnaflow quietened down after a few miles. You can still hear it,but it's not as loud as it first was.In fact it has a nice sound now,and my wife is the one that drives it everyday !
