Poll for Turbo kit or N/A
Ok so I know that no one yet has a turbo kit for our cars and after driving my old Isuzu Impulse and hearing the "Pssshh" from the blow off valve I am really jonesing for that sound again. So, my 2 option poll. 1: priced out a Turbo kit and all parts would come up to $739.00 or 2: stick with natural aspiriation and buy a header ($250 apprx)...any input good or bad is appreciated. And I am not worried about my warranty that went away a long time ago. As for some back story, I have seen to new Ecotecs running about 8 psi boost and making close to if not over 200 horses at the wheels with stock internals. I am not looking to do anything more than that. Thanks again to you all!
Let's be realistic - add this to the poll: How many are willing to spend $4500 for a turbo kit? Because that is what STS's kit will run when it is released.
You can't just bolt a turbo on the HHR's Ecotec engine - some serious engine manegement has to be done and cracking the computer is what is holding everyone back.
It is going to take time...and money.

actually price includes the Apex'i Super AFC to trick the stock ECM and remap the fuel system. Have seen this on a yellow Turbo Cobalt and he has had no problems thus far. When making a custom system like I am trying to do I don't really are about the stock ECM recal since I am used to having to tune on the fly. One of my older cars was a 98 Mistu Eclipse GST and if you don't know how to tune a fuel map you shouldn't try to modify it. So, I was going to use this method since it has worked on a cobalt so far. Only thing missing is bigger injectors if I try for more than 8 psi boost.
One of my buddies who is a Fiero custom parts manufacturer is working on an HHR setup and he says he will piggyback a computer just for the turbo. He has successfully done this on many other vehicles. Of course, he doesn't know for the HHR yet but judging from his other installs I can guarantee that it won't be less than $3000.
If everyone who really wants a turbo will simply call/write/email STS, we will see the HHR production kit a lot sooner. Right now the "squeaky wheel" gets the grease, and high horsepower applications are taking priority for them. The more HHR owners who bug them, the quicker it will become a reality.
