If you are going to buy a muffler spend some more money or you will not be happy. Thrush is better now under Walker but it is a cheapy muffler yet and will not last very long.

The reason Im asking is I have a couple of friends with trush on ther cars and they love the almost stock sound you get until you add some gas and then you get a slight rumble of power I don't want a loud fart can sound
and they have had them for several years.
Listened to mag,flow & cgs and I don't hear a difference
from a walker or a koolvue.
Still deciding...

Here is what you are dealing with.

Thrush was the old cheap muffler that you could buy years ago and use for about a year before it rusted out. Today they are owned by Walker and have been inproved. They are not near as bad as they were but they are still a cheapy muffler. You will get more time out of them but it is much poorer muffler than you are taking off.

If you plan on keeping the HHR I would look around at a stainless muffler and find one with a similar sound. This one would last as long as you own the car where as the Thrush may last a couple years.

I see people all the time replace factory stainless with cheaper steel mufflers that only last 2-5 years.

My Pontiac has a factory stainless on it and is 26 years old. It has held up well. There are may good stainless mufflers out there that will have the sound you want and last as long as you own the car. If you plan on selling it in a year or two the Thrush is fine but if you plan to keep it spend the extra and do it right.

We sell many kinds of exhaust where I work including Thrush. I deal alot with warranties and issues on these and can tell you the one that people never call about.

It is just something to think about when you buy a muffler. How long you are keeping it should be always considered and factored into what you buy.

If you pan on selling next year I tell people not to waste the extra money on the better stainless.
