Cobalt owners are adopting the 2.4L turbo kits to the 2.2L engine with little change required. Maybe the same could be done for the HHR?

Of course. ;-) Joking aside, you'd need a tune of some sort to make it work.

Hello all!

Yes, we are taking a hard look at the 2.2's as well as the 2.4's for turbosystems. The 2.4's are a go, and we're looking at 2.2 now.

Vince, can you support tuning on the 2.2 HHR?

i would put off getting a new camera for a turbo kit. i could care less about a warranty especially if gm goes under. if theres no company who do i go for warranty work ne ways.

Warranty is such a cloudy issue for cars that are highly modified, such as installation of a turbosystem. Fact is, anytime one modifies a car, there is a chance for the powertrain warranty to be void, for GM's obligation does not extend beyond the stock power level. This is also true on factory turbo cars, which also get into this region with any modifications.

So what to do? Well, one thing that's in your favor is the track record of these cars when turbocharging is added, and it's VERY good. So your bets are greatly hedged.

As for GM not being able to honor warranties on vehicles sold...I'd offer that the chance of that happening is extremely remote. Despite all the saber-rattling in Washington currently as the automakers' CEO's are "grilled", there's no way the government would allow GM to collapse. That cure would be far worse than the disease. This is all a big show so the politicians can look good on camera as "responsible stewards of the public interest", and they can gain points by publically dressing-down the Big Three.

A company this huge simply cannot go away. Warranties are safe!
