Another Option

I was surprised to bump into this today. No dyno results, but another option to free up a couple of ponies.

Looks like it would help.
I did what CJ did on his HHR.
I put a reactive air filter and a pipe to the Air filter box, after removing the stock filter.

Thats another good option.. price is moderate.. plus.. the box type enclosure helps funnel the air to the filter, and block some heat from the engine...

I would like to see the actual photo for an HHR. The picture they have is just a representation. If it mounts in the same location as the stock box, then it would be just as ugly covering up the entire engine. And the air would come from on top of the motor, which is pretty hot. The SoCal setup has the filter to the side, where it would get airflow from the wheelwell, like the stock intake did.

Here's the solution:



(Disregard red circle & arrow). Just twist the oil filler neck 1/4 turn and remove it. The oil filler cap uses the same threads, so it fits right into the valve cover. Problem solved.
