Looking for a sound clip of the Magnaflow catback. Does it drone on highway or sound ricey?

 

At least one member has Magnaflow exhaust, but they haven't posted a sound clip.

On the Magnaflow website there is a sound clip of a Cobalt. That's about the closest thing I've found.

 

I have the Magnaflow cat back installed. It is louder than stock and has a nice growl to it. On the end it has baffles to make it sound good.

First off, don't get me wrong I know this is the internet and computer speaker, but do all the aftermarket exhaust sound like that? I'm used to a flowmaster or magnaflow on a v-8. Is the sound just because of a 4 cyl? I'll probably change mine, hopefully soon too, but I was hopeing for a deeper sound then I heard on the computer.

 

I'm afraid that's about as good as it's gonna get. You might get it louder, but probably not lower.

I had the IMCO, not as low or loud as this. I had a glass pack by itself about this low but MUCH louder. I added two small resonators and it still is low, but not real deep, and is louder than this clip.

Tough to get a deep, low rumble when ya got a four banger.

At least its not ricey.

 

I would love to hear one up close and personel to help me decide. Don't know if anyone in this area has one yet. Maybe scaleguy does, I still need to meet up with him sometime to meet him. There are a bunch of HHRs in the area, but I haven't really seen anybody doing any mods to them yet. I haven't even seen scaleguys'. Thought I would be the first in the area.

 

The clip he provided sounds just about like my S-10 does on the internet. In person though, it sounds much deeper and even a bit louder. I have a Gibson cat back on it, which is similar to Magnaflow I believe. (Both are straight through designs, surrounded by sound deadening material). There is a lot more piping after the muffler on mine though, so that probably makes it sound deeper as well.

Where the camera is in relation to the vehicle will make a big difference, along with the camera itself. Also, if the vehicle is warmed up or cold, will change the sound. So basically, the best way is to hear it in person like you said.
