Appearence or Performance? What would you do?

Ok, if you're on a limited budget what would you do? I purchased a 2006 HHR (Black) LT2. It's only a week old. I traded in my 2002 Chevy Suburban and I'm still trying to get use to the interior size thing but lovin' the gas mileage. I purchased a set of "new" Zyoxx Z8 18" wheels with the Black inserts. I can either purchase the CGS Intake and IMCO T924 Muffler or purchase a set of 235/40R18 tires for the wheels. Do I go for the looks or do I go for the performance?

With those rims I'd go for the tires man. Then, start to save your money for the Imco and CGS :)

Well, if you got the rims, get the tires. It already gets good gas mileage so the other stuff can probably wait a bit. By the way, those rims are some of the best I've seen!

Rims and tires.

From the looks of things, the HHR can be made a little "faster", but it will never be "FAST". Even if/when a turbo comes out, the HHR is a heavy car to get rolling.

I agree that since you already have the wheels, go ahead and get the tires, but I went the other direction. I have added the sway bar and CGS Intake, not to spin my tires but improve a bit on performance, body roll and maybe gas mileage. I will also say that I added the CGS for looks so I could see the engine. I am very happy with what I have done so far. Just my

Get the tires. You can always do the rest later.

First off...

With wheels like that, I'd DEFINITELY go for rubber! (Nice lookin' ). As I'm sure the adjustment from your former ride is a BIG one, there's a LOT the HHR offers that keeps surprizing/satisfying as time goes on. It really is a versitile (big) little vehicle.

As for future mod's... you've always got a birthday, holiday, or ... Thanksgiving to provide a list of parts to add performance .

Lastly... the IMCO is very reasonably priced, especially if you can do the work yourself! As for the intake, etc... your gas mileage will probablly go DOWN (foot gets heavier).

Be sure to post pic's when those doughnuts are mounted! And be sure to keep your stockers around for the brutal winter months ahead!!!
