Care and Feeding of CGS Intake

O. K., now that I have my new CGS Intake... what are the care and feeding of it... i.e. maintenance/cleaning?

JimZ_HHR 11-01-2006 08:07 PM

second question? what is C.A.R.B.approval ?

What to feed the CGS......a GOOD top-tier gasoline, preferably 91 or above octane and a clean boost of fresh air:lol:

CARB = California Air Resourse Board (if I remember correctly). The part should have their approval to LEGALLY use it in California.:thumb: Although many people use a variety of items NOT approved.

Here are some instructions for care of K & N Filters. :thumb: Hope this helps.

I have a lot of previous experience with K&N- type filters. DO NOT OVER-OIL THE FILTER!. It's a natural tendency to do the "more is better" thing. A light spray of oil and it will wick evenly over the filter if you let it sit overnight.

Over-oiling has been implicated in some Mass Airflow sensor problems on Chevy trucks (I have a Suburban) and could potentially cause problems on the HHR.

After you've pull out the filter out of the squeezed tight area...
try to straighten it out as much as possible, so as to not to block the passages of the filter. Or changed the filter size -

Wow...mine has never looked like that. I've had it out several times and never has it been smooshed like that.
