Cat-backs for the 2.4
Thanks for all the feedback, I'll do some more checking around as well. One of the reasons I was thinking a custom cat-back is I could add resonator tips as well to quiet things down, or go the dual pipe route. At the next so cal gathering, I'm going to have to get some live examples :)
I had a Suburban with a cat-back system that resonated loudly at highway speeds (very annoying). So I added a resonator tip. This did muffle much of the resonance , at least making it tolerable. However, the resonator "wore out" after about a year and got loud again. It must have slowly lost the packing inside. Maybe there are some resonator tips that don't have packing inside. Just a note from my previous experiences.

UpOnGamE, I like your system (kind of like mine). Do you have any mufflers or just the Y pipe to the 2 tips?
You can see mine in my photo gallery. I did a Y before my IMCO muffler, and have a lake pipe set up on the passanger side. I generally run it with either no block plate or one with a few holes in it, as the closed system is a little to quiet for me IMHO. By the way, I simply used a header collector as the lake pipe, and have a second collector clamped to a matching chrome tailpipe and use an aluminum electrical box cover as the plate. Nuts welded to the collector and bolts locktited through them makes for easy changes-only need one ratchet to remove the 3 nuts to open or close the exhaust, which takes about 1 1/2 minutes.

I've been running mine for a few days with the resonators added and I'm really happy. Still louder than the IMCO
I'm really like the performance and expecially the look of the side pipes. Was not a cheap mod but I think it's been worth every penny! I love it when I'm sitting at a light and people are checking it out and then they niotice the side pipes as I pull away with a nice low growl!!
