Question Cold Air Questions

Of all the "cold air" systems I have looked at, they all go straight up over the engine and turn right back down behind the radiator. Or they rely on plenums running in from the fender for cold air. Are there any that do not cross over the engine and actually stay away from the hotter components under the hood?

There's just not enough room until someone builds a custom hood.

Cold airintake

I'm making my own air-intake.The one's i've seen from K&N,CGS, and others. like you said mounts over the manifold and then bends down to the side of engine, where there is mostly hot air.Plus they want to much money for what it is. The one i'm making is like one the one that was on a earlier thread from DOUGHBOY in atlanta. It runs behind the radiator and behind the fan.So far i;ve put out 30 dollars for the air filter and a adapter from Spectre Performance.

I wish i could some how make a CAI that routes to the fog light holes since i do not have fog lights. don't know if it possible but it would pretty cool, literally lol.

that's good idea! i had a 64 fairlane. mine was not a thunderbolt. but they made 1 called thunderbolt. they normally have 4 headlights.the thunderbolt had tubes going to the 2 middle lights. i think it made some records. my hhr has the fogs, but the bumper grill area may work.

I would suggest

I would suggest if you use the fog light holes that you use some sort of a "Pea Trap" That is make it so that if you hit a big puddle of water it will not pump water into your motor. It would be a good place to get cool air (and anything else) down there.
