Exclamation Mods going on soon, need advice!

So.... these are the parts I have going on soon, im not too mechanically inclined so Im takin them to a shop I trust....

OBX Headers
Magnaflow Cat-Back Exhaust
Slotted and Drilled rotors by BrakeLabs
Brake Pads, also by BrakeLabs
Oil change (woo)
New Air Filter (also, woo)

My question is, ive seen some guys on here who get the header / exhaust done and throw a CEL not too long afterward. What can i do to prevent this????

I read one thread saying to disconnect the ecu for a few minutes, start er up after everything is done, let it run for 5 minutes, then take it on a few low rev and high rev runs. Anyone confirm this? Anything i should know? Any certain codes i should see / expect / look out for? Any advice is MUCH appreciated, thanks!

Oh and so you think im not too mechanically invalid, I DO do my own oil changes! :)

Let us know how the header did when you get time please. I have thrown a cel 3 times. I can't remember the fuse #(41 or 42 maybe)? At any rate I pull the fuse that powers the computer and put it back in after 5 min as stated above. It clears it out. Every time it has done it at extended idling.
Good luck.

If you're gonna add stuff that throws a code, you might as well spend the money for a good software tune to keep the codes out and tune the car for the performance mods you're having installed.

On the intake I have the K&N box. When it first went on the traction light came on. I reset the ecm, traction light came back on. I did not reset. It went out on it's own the second time and never came back on. I have taken the MAF sensor out twice and poured rubbing alcohol in it as many have reported oil comes off filter and get's on sensor. I just blow it out with compressed air afterward. I just do it for preventative maintenance. It is said to be a problem on factory filters, that there is to much oil and the intake tube is too short on the k&n.

On the obx the down pipe will need either a tune to remove the rear O2 sensor or this https://www.upscaleautomotive.com/p-...r-housing.aspx
There is a spark plug non-fouler sold at the local autozones and the like. http://www.civicforums.com/forums/79...simulator.html
At cobalt ss net some say the non-foulers work for them, some say they do not.

Well... one thing I didnt realize (in my noob-ness) the OBX Headers eliminated the Cat, i wasnt cool with that. I strive to keep everything legal. So the Magnaflow exhaust is (hopefully) going on today, chances are I will be selling the headers soon.
