Octane rating issues

Just wondering how many people are using 87 instead of 91 or 93 and if so are you having any issues?

We have just signed a contract on an 08 1LT with this engine and only now thought about this. Frankly, don't want to pay for the higher grade but also don't want to listen to persistent knocking/pinging. I can live with reduced performance.

Size: 5.6 KB to the site!!! Quite a few use Regular instead of Premium in their 2.4 L. Notice it says recommended but not required. Here is a thread you can look over: What octane to use

What engine? The 2.2 or 2.4? Both can be had in a 1LT. Seeing as how you're worrying about the octane rating I'm assuming you have a 2.4?

I have an '06 2LT and have been running 87 octane for its entire life so far. Getting 20-22 mpg around town regularly and no performance issues. Only 11500 miles so far.

We couldn't get much further apart and still be in the same state, Pensacola.

Like your color. The one we have settled on is Blue Metallic Flash.

octane is a funny critter. if you wanna try boosting it over the reg/87 but $/ga are an issue, try splitting the fill. you get more than the average of the two parts. ie equal parts of [87 + 91] > 89. if i remember my organic chem correctly. just a thought.
