i have an 06 with 34000 miles on it with the 5 speed and when i put the pedal to the floor i can hear a whinding or spooling sound does anyone else hear this,it sounds like an old vw beetle

 

it shifts great and runs smooth and it dont seem like it effects the performance i had an 06 auto before this and i love the 5 speed.its so much quicker....

yeah i know the sound your talking about, its the intake whistling. its done it on mine since day 1 with 70 miles. '06 2.2 5spd

 

When do you hear this, in what gear at what speed? Not a good idea in neutral, hard on the engine. This would make sense if it was an SS because the German 5 speed transmissions are made out of old VW parts. When ever I hear strange new sounds (driveway cool morning suspension clunk) I do what a Ford Tech told me to do, I turn up the radio.

 

I could only hope that someday mine would sound like a old VW
I think that would be the best of both worlds for me
