Does anyone know what happens to phasers when they go bad?

They don't normally. What makes you think there is a problem?

I put new timing chain's in. It jumped timing some how and now I can't seem to be able to get it back to TDC compression stroke. The pistons and the balance shafts line up but I can't seem to get the cams to cooperate. Any ideas?

Do you see the square part of the cam shafts? that's where you use a wrench to turn it.

Is that what you mean?

You have to take the chain completely off and start from step number A.

I took the cams completely out to see if I could get the diamond's to 2 and 10 on the compression stroke because when I have the chain on they only line up on the exhaust stroke

Did they before?

Did you follow these directions? Especially the marking part.
