if you don't want you air filter all jammed up in the compartment, try K&N's SN2540 it has a 20 degree flange edge that can help it be deflected off the wall of the car body, and you won't have to use packing or cushioning. Just a thought....

I finally got some of my projects done today, one of them included changing the CGS intake filter to one of Mike's Outlaw filters. I was wondering if anybody else has had problems installing and removing the filters. The metal screen has scratched the fender and I ended up bending some of the fins on the filter when installing.

The quickest and simplest way to install the Outlaw filter is to remove the intake, remove the old filter, then place the new filter down in the fenderwell (as the CGS instructions suggest), then place the intake tube end back into the filter, install the intake tube and retighten.

The whole process can be done in less than 10-minutes and there is no damage to the filter element this way.

Hope it helps,

Yeah... what he said. That's how I installed mine at first (filter first, then connect to intake tube) Did the same when replacing the filter to the "Outlaw" I am completely satisfied with the "Outlaw". Its done me great.

Perfectly. We tested several filters under real-world driving conditions and the Outlaw filter was "the one" that modulated the tranny perfectly.
Filters directly affect the auto trans modulation on the HHR very specifically.

Not that it would matter to you, as you don't have a CGS intake. (The "Outlaw" is only for use on the CGS.)
