I would love to do something fun with this car, but I dont blame Hahn for dragging ass on this. Let's face it, who here on this forum is SERIOUSLY going to spend 5+k$ on a turbo kit for their DD, then another 1000$ or so in extra parts? My guess is less than 5, and less than 5 people isnt going to help them recoup R&D cost, much less production.

Don't understand

I wrote elsewhere that I could not comprehend why anyone would want to put a turbo on the 2.2. There is a big thread about this in the 2.2 performance tech area. To me, the smaller engine made absolutely no sense as a starting substrate, since that is the lowest HP version available. Doing it to the 2.4 is more reasonable. Presumably, to tolerate the added turbo, in addition you would have to strengthen many internal engine parts, in a similar fashion to the improvements done in the 2.0. It would be hard to make the numbers work when the factory SS already exists with a 5 year / 100k warranty, with a dwindling number of new and a steady supply of used units. A used SS is about $5000 more than a used 2LT whose warranty would be voided by conversion. If someone could do this cost-effectively, it would be fun to see. For myself, I'm quite content with my normally aspirated 2.4 combined with a manual transmission, the highest performance variant short of the SS.

I dont ever plan to modify my HHR 2.4, internally, or externally for that matter. Why would anyone want to mod anything and not be content on what it is? That logic wont get you very far in the hotrod community? Personally, you wont see a turbo kit on my car, ever, unless it is accompanied by my planned engine swap. Some people are curious so I started this thread so Hahn could come back and update, and NOT be ridiculed.
