Ticking & Clicking Making Me Crazy!

I adore my '06 Spring Edition, but this rattling from the exhaust is making me insane. I read posts that said it would go away with time, but I'm at 6k now and still hear it. As soon as I get it to highway speed it tick tick ticks away and that ticking remains for at least five minutes after shut off. Dealer said it's the heat shield and part of the manufacture - there is nothing to be done about it. PLEASE somebody tell me they got a better answer or a solution!

Thanks! But I honestly have no idea what that means.

I can understand the ticking noise after shutting down as the exhaust components cool off, I get that occasionally. But I don't understand why there's ticking once you're driving and everything is hot again.

I have never heard my Premiere Edition do that, I would ask them to replace the heat shields.

Not trying to be a smart but how often do you really hear this noise if you only have 6000 on an '06?

Cat back exhaust means new pieces that replace the exhaust components from the catalytic converter ( part of the emissions ) back to the rear of the car.

Some ticking after shut off is normal. Constant ticking while driving is not! If you don't want to modify your exhaust with aftermarket then call the service manager explain the noise and he/she should agree that the noise is NOT normal. If that doesn't work take it to another dealer. Most likely it is the heat shields rattling if you hear it on acceleration. Some times they can be aligned if not replacing will probably fix it.

Ticking/Clicking Noise

I have the 2006 LT. with 24,000 miles. Clicking/ticking noise still going strong. I was hoping that the problem would correct itself. But now after reading that someone else has the same problem. I will speak with service at the next oil change to see about replacing the heat shield.
