Question tune reset??

On a recent trip I noticed that the speed limiter on my HHR is back. This was turned off by my tune.

My question is could i have "lost" my tune last winter when my battery kept going completely dead? I did take my HHR to the dealer and they checked it out and replaced the battery. Nothing was said to me about flashing the pcm though.

.
Does this mean that you can't go above 150MPH?

Since the tune is burned into flash memory, like a memory card on a camera, it can not be lost by a dead battery, otherwise you would loose all of your pictures when you changed your camera battery.

Matt locks his tunes in so the dealer can not erase it. That is why I have to have him unlock my ECU before the dealer can update it.

Mike,

If you lost the speed limiter, the dealer may well have flashed an updated calibration to your car. There have been a few update Operating System calibrations to the earlier cars. I ran into this on another HHR that I tuned. (Funny story!!)

Does the work order mention anything of the sort? If not, call them and they should be able to tell you.

I would think that you would have noticed other things, like being unresponsive or sluggish, etc., before running into the speed limiter issue.

Mike,

Give me the last 8 of the VIN and I will see if they reflashed it. If they did it they would have wanted to get paid for it, so it will be in the warranty history.
