Question 3M Paint Defender

Anyone out there that is familiar with 3M paint defender?

Yep, it was all the rave on the Corvette Forum.....Until......

A few posted poor results. Several were satisfied with it for a trip defense. But the finish coat is less than stellar (not what like is portrayed on the 3M website). Several had problems with the spray can "spitting" and foaming/gobbing.

I tried it and followed the directions explicitly, including using their wax prior to using the spray protection. I had the same problem with the spray can spitting and gobbing which did NOT self level. The areas that sprayed better looked OK and, as long as you use their pre-wax, it does remove easy and in one continuous sheet. You CANNOT use a power wash or auto car wash because it begins peeling.

I removed all of it. It could be a good product, maybe after 3M perfects the spray mechanism.

Maybe you will have better results.

I was curious about this product as well.. Think I'll hold off till I read more positive input..

It looks like a really thin "quickie" version of Paint Protection Film or PPF. To get equivalent results you would need to put it down in about 10 layers to get the same thickness as PPF.
