Seems to me that LOTS of people are making those same mods, even outside of SoCal...but I'm still kinda new around here. Which mods do you think would make for a more fitting package, based off of what you see around here the most?

CH is right on that (supercharging). At Solvang, Andy and I looked at the Cobalt SS Engine up close and personal. After some inspection it appears that baby will drop right into the HHR . That's the way to go for supercharging IMO.

Just keep your eyes on the junkyards - one is bound to show up eventually!

Well thanks for clearing that up CH and Mike. Engine swaps are easy to do.

I would love to drop in a supercharged engine...what would something like that cost approximately? The engine block of an 88 cutlass i had cracked and cost me about $1500 for a new engine (installed).

A brand new SC 2.0 crate engines part number is 12499466 and the MSRP $5,821.41 not including tax and labor of course. Definitely not worth it for only 205 HP.

Yo CH, Pop on over to CobaltSS.net. People there are dynoing 215-220HP, With a few factory freaks making 245HP. 205HP is underrated.

Most performace engines are underrated. I thought about swapping engines that's how I found the part number and all. About the best price I found looking around on the net is a little over $4000. Pirating one from from a totaled SC/SS Cobalt or Ion Redline definitely is the way to go.
