Another Running Boards Thread- Installation
How hard would it be for th average Joe to install the running boards? This auction is looking really tempting: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=8066856582 If it's a fairly simple thing to do, I just might go for it and install them myself to save a couple hundred. Does it require any special tools or anything??
Really nothing to it. It has about 5-6 clips/bolts underneath the doors and a couple of bolts that attach in the wheel wells. I had to take mine back because the dealer had to big of a gap in places. Would have done it myself but it was under warrenty so I let them get thier back dirty instead of mine.

The instruction manual comes with all the info you need from start to finish. A socket wrench is a must. Just rip out the existing cover (i wasnt able to save them as the hinges broke off during removal) and install the mounts. Its a very simple install. I bought mine a month ago and installed it myself.

Yeah,
I didn't put mine on but have installed them on several of my autos. Hardest was the nerfs for my truck which required drilling into the frame. I believe HHRs have pre-drilled holes since this is a option that the dealer puts on. If you have any doubts go to the dealer and talk to one of the mechanics most are nice and willing to give info.

With one of those multi sized Gator socket jobbers.
I love that thing.
