Black Mirror Caps Anyone???

I'm confused a bit...here some peeps are saying you remove the mirror caps from inside the mirror but on the TSB that CM just posted it looks like the are popped off along the seam??


Which way is correct?


I don't want to break anything

The TSB shows the internal tabs in the drawing, but shows them prying the cap off in the photo. I think the photo is misleading as you have to put a little pressure on the cap as you disengage the internal tabs.

So have to get behind the mirror with a small screwdriver rather than just use the screwdriver to go around the seam then?

Yes, the arrows show which way to push each tab.

i just took a small flat head screw driver ..
and under the mirror closest to car.. i stuck
it in and popped that tab loose. and then
just grabbed the cover and removed it by hand..

very simple. took less than a minute

We never remove the glass. It will pry off as shown in the TSB. And yes maybe 1 out of every 100 breaks a tab.

Lol yea i was lost too, its in a thread ChevyMgr posted the TSB recall thread.
