Well since the general trend seems to be going towards blacking things out, why not buck the trend and keep the chrome. While I don't think a repaint is in order, maybe adding an accent color to it like silver or charcoal gray would give you a totally new look.

Well to coincide with Mike here, I would stick with Chrome. The silver fender stripes would set it off well, and maybe look at some IPCW Chrome LED Tail lights..

I'm partial (and I also have black, but never mind that for the moment)

The 2LT chrome "works" I wouldn't mess with it, some think it's too much but it's classic! If you think back to the era the HHR is styled after, chrome was one of the things that set the deluxe models apart.

Color match the bowties (or contrast) and add a pinstripe (maybe) and keep it waxed. It may not have been first choice, but that is a nice red! Did you paint the drums and calipers yet? Another good place to use the "contrast" color if you go that route.

Put your antenna back on, for one maybe lol.

Red is a nice color. You could do plenty. I think it looks really nice how it is. Maybe lower it a bit... and sell me your wheels lol. Take the GM badge off the fenders.
