button on dash cargo

SOMEONE...(I wont mention my WIFES name) broke the plastic posts on the button on the bottom of the center dash cargo door by pushing to hard , had to get out the super glue for a quick repair. BUT, that made me wonder why I havent seen a heavier duty chrome or stainless replacement for this button. With all the other accesories available I would think this would be easy to do. Something with a plate on top and and bottom that would directly attach to each other and hold well, I can't be the only one this has happened to. Can I?

I think he is talking about the upper glovebox button. I know I have seen a billet cover for the button, but not a replacement.

Thanks for the post, I just looked at those and they are just stuck on top with 3M tape, not quite the same thing. If you ever break this part you will see that it is supported by 2 thin plastic posts on the bottom where the button is screwed into. When these break, besides super glue, there is no way to replace them. I am trying to figure a way to put a chrome plate on the top side and securing the top plate to the bottom plate, probably have to drill 2 small holes to do this. I am sure that I am not explaining this the right way, sorry. But that beign said, when I figure out how to do this you will not have to worry about pushing on this button to hard. Now that I think of it this will be easier to do now that I have seen these covers (was trying to figure out how to match finish on button), so Thank you.

I understand. I imagine you'll be able to renforce that area with some very thin metal and some handy work with some snips.

I think mines going to break soon. It sits a little lower on one side and its getting harder to open. The door itself is also tweaked. It sits higher than the dash on the left side.
