No prob's here (yet) - do keep us posted.
I'd assume it's a defect because ALL the (plasti-) chrome is the same... So that'd be door handles, badges, grille, rear trim AND roof rack for those that have 'em
You'd think the most abused part (grille) would show signs of peeling first- NOT the door handles!

No problem with the door handles, but when I bought my HHR(Sept. 6, 2005) the drivers side mirror had to be replaced because the chrome was all bubbled.

Not one problem with the door handles. Or with any of the chrome trim.

To keep this condition from reoccuring (mostly happens in hot climates where the sun shines 12 months of the year), quickly move the vehicle to a shaded area, cover with dry covering, keep cool.

To prevent the peeling from happening, You need to apply suntan lotion to your paint and crome..

I would think the dealer will replace it. Chrome plating on plastic is usually pretty durable. The plastic is coated with copper before it's chrome plated so it's pretty tough. Most likely your door handle has a defect and should be covered under warranty.

Ok well here is the scoop, not that they said why it did that, but they are replacing them, the front driver one now looks like it is wrinkling. Very weird, but I can say that under the "chrome" it is a very dull, dark grey plastic. Did not see any copper, but I will tell you that I bought sunblock 45 and plan on putting that on her if she is so young and starting to wrinkle, thats not a good thing, and they say that in this sun you should always wear sunblock. ****winks****
