chrome front grill

Hello all. I just bought an 06 HHR LT2 with 8000 miles on it. I would like to install my Whistler 3450 radar detector. It has a three parts, radar reciever, laser reciever and the readout which you can put where you want inside the car. I don't like things stuck to the windshield that would get the car broke into. The question is will the fake chrome on the grill interfer with the radar part that i would like to put behind it. I know it doesnt work through metal. Thanks for any help.

It's not chrome it's chromed. Whatever they make it out of it's not metalic in nature. Try to get a magnet to stick to it.

I'm not sure if it won't interfere, It doesn't have to be magnetic to block radar signals. Remember that copper and aluminum block radio waves and a magnet doesn't stick to either of them either. It can be put behind the bumper facia and receive signal, or mount it just underneath the bumper inthe lower air intake, back far enough so it isn't seen.

Leon, pretty sure it's not copper, tin, aluminum, titanium or any metal.

Are you still on your trip?

Thanks for the welcome. Guess i'll just have to try it behind the grill. I did try it below the bumper on my last auto, it was a caviler, didn't work good that low. I had the radar reciver on the rear deck inside the car with a baseball cap over it, worked good there. Anyone know the best place to run the wires through fire wall. By the way this site was very useful in deciding to buy the hhr. I have alreay installed the alumminum mess in the lower front opening to prevent radiator damage. Thanks for all the info.
