chrome (or stainless) side pipes

ok so the wife has green lights a few more mods, one being side pipes. would like some pics to show her to make double sure she wants them, also would like advice. ie do you have to have running boards to mont them, which is better chrome or stainless, what size do i need(length wise) and who has good deals on them...im hoping they will help hide the orange neon she wants under it. funny thing, it was an episode of 'trick my truck' that talked her into it...if you watch it was the orange cab over, she wants those graphics for her car...lol

anyways thanks in advance for any and all responses.

Get stainless. With the rocks and such that the tires will flip at them, you don't want rust.

Also, I would not run a chrome exhaust tip, but paint the muffler and bare tip black. IMO looks odd to see side pipes and a rear tip.

If you're going to fork over the money for pipes, it might be wise to go with stainless steel, rather than chrome plated. Trust me, I dealt with that issue when my chrome plated muffler tip rusted inside and it looked like crap. Removed it and had a stainless steel one put on and no problems whatsoever. Check our supporting vendors, as I believe several of them sell lake pipes for the HHR. In fact, GDZHHR has stainless lake pipes, or at least he used to in his store (I haven't checked recently)Here's a picture of what appears to be 60" pipes on member fre2fall5's 2006 Spring Edition HHR. Below that are GDZHHR's wifes HHR with 70" pipes...think it's all a matter of what look you want.

Thanks for the good words folks!

We do have 70" stainless lake pipes for sale. That pic above of Bonnie's is with the chrome pipes we were running; rust issues big time.

I found an outlett for stainless steel pipes, clamps and outlets and liked them so much after putting them on Bonnie's car, we decided to become a vendor for them.

Here's a pic with the stainless steel pipes.

I bought the 60" and had them installed. I later saw and learned there are 70". I ran with the 60" for a year and just took them off. I have the first generation of Goldline Springs. This combination although it looks good, it's a wee bit low. I hit one of the caps on a small curb, it bent up and poked a hole in my running board. It's been repaired and painted over and the pipes removed.

I have a set of 70" just waiting to be installed. I'll have to be a bit more careful. I think the 70's fill the space much better!
