Clay bar & (hand painted) pinstripes

Since we have a g2g coming up in a few days (and I have a few days off!), I was thinking of using a clay bar (for the first time) on my Sirius Blackie.

I know how to 'gently' clean the hand-painted pinstripes with the (Meguair's) wax and use their detailer all the time no problem, but wondered if it was ok to use a clay bar on them? (also Meguiar's).

Here's pix of the front and back details. Thanks for any tips/help!

Angie, we had pinstripes on past cars and clayed right over them as well. Just be gentle when going over them and keep the clay lubricated

I used to stripe for a living (paint). Assuming One-Shot paint, if the car paint was prepped with a relatively strong solvent (something more than mineral spirits)... something sufficient to soften the paint before the stripes were laid, the two paints have a significant chemical bond, and so don't buff off easily. However, if they were laid over a lightly prepped paint (like with mineral spirits or 3M adhesive cleaner-type solvents), you can buff off the stripes much easier. In any case, as Hillsdale suggests, keep things lubricated and don't spin the pad too fast. Heat is not your friend.

Thanks, X. Wasn't going to buff--old school 'karate-kid' style here!

Still not as pretty as UMA, but...

OK, the clay bar RULES!
My Sirius Blackie is gorgeous and now freshly waxed, even shinier!
Of course, the stinkin' Santa Ana winds have kicked up so I know have a patina of dust on him, but dang--definitely worth the extra effort.

Thanks for the tips!
